Engaging in Social Action

dow logoMany churches and parishes are actively engaged in social and community initiatives within their locality meeting a wide range of social, emotional, practical as well as spiritual needs.

The Anglican Diocese of Worcester, incorporating most of Dudley Borough, commissioned Transformations to investigate the level of social responsibility and community engagement across the Diocese. The study involved a series of structured, face-to-face interviews with parish leaders and clergy in 25 parishes, selected across both urban, sub-urban and rural areas. The interviews sought to draw out what encouraged and stimulated engagement and what hindered or restricted involvement. Evidence was written up into a report for the Diocesan Commission for Social Responsibility and included several case stories of good practice.
